First Serbian Geodetic Congress

Dear colleagues,

“1.Serbian Geodetic Congress” with international participation is organized as an introduction in celebration of an important and admirable anniversary “175 Years of Geodetic Profession in Serbia: 1837 – 2012” and successful completion of the “Real Estate Cadastre and Registration Project in the Republic of Serbia”. Intention of organizer is to present you, during the “1. Serbian Geodetic Congress” with latest achievements of geodetic science and profession in the Republic of Serbia, as well as to exchange experiences and knowledge with broadest international and domestic scientific and professional public, through five thematic units:

1. GNSS technologies;

2. INSPIRE;

3. Real estate appraisal and management;

4. 3D cadastre;

5. Remote sensing serving regional development.

We have all been witnessing fast development of new IT technologies, which are very important for development of geodesy as a science, upgrading geodetic education and reaffirmation of geodetic profession globally, but also in Serbia. Just the same, we believe that the numerous development project with practical character, implemented in the Republic Geodetic Authority, with the results made available for use by citizens, private and public sector and any other spatial data users, are worthy your attention.

Starting from intensive development achieved within the geodetic profession in the Republic of Serbia, next logical step was the necessity to analyze, evaluate and present this development to international and domestic scientific and professional public. We also believe that your experiences will contribute upgrading and innovating geodetic profession developments strategy in the Republic of Serbia, in line with latest successful solutions and activities implemented in your countries in that field.

The idea for the “1. Serbian Geodetic Congress” to be extended with the International Scientific Conference had turned out fully justified. Number of submitted papers and interest indicated by the authors, recognizing the topics of the International Scientific Conference as the recent development in the field of geodesy, prove this point. A total number of reviewed and accepted papers is 77 – 39 international and 38 from Serbia. Response from significant number of authors, as well as scientific and professional content of papers, had already established conditions for success of the “First Serbian Geodetic Congress”.

On this occasion, we extend our gratitude to the members of Scientific Committee, esteemed and recognized experts in the field of International Scientific Conference themes for accepting to participate in Scientific Committee and for their contribution in its work.

We extend special gratitude to the authors of Keynote Papers, which provide introduction to certain themes, with overview of historical and present development and guidelines for further upgrade in the field of geodesy. We deeply appreciate contribution of all authors, contributing their papers and establishing conditions for successful work of the “First Serbian Geodetic Congress”.

Let us once again state great gratitude to all who had invested their effort to help and support the “First Serbian Geodetic Congress”.
