Pursuant to the Law on Personal Data Protection (“Official Gazette of the Republic of Serbia”, No. 87/2018 – hereinafter: the Law), and in order to ensure the right to protection of natural persons in relation to the processing of personal data by competent authorities, the Republic Geodetic Authority has, in accordance with the provisions of Article 56, paragraphs 2, 8 and 9 of the Law, appointed a Personal Data Protection Officer. The Personal Data Protection Officer, in accordance with the provisions of Article 58, paragraph 1 of the Law, has the following obligations:
• informs and gives an opinion to the handler or processor, as well as to employees who perform processing operations, on their legal obligations regarding the protection of personal data;
• monitors the implementation of the provisions of this Law, other laws and internal regulations of the handler or processor relating to the protection of personal data, including issues of distribution of responsibilities, awareness-raising and training of employees participating in processing operations, as well as control;
• gives an opinion, when requested, on the assessment of the impact of processing on the protection of personal data and monitors the action taken on that assessment, in accordance with Article 54 of the Law;
• cooperates with the Commissioner, serves as the contact point for cooperation with the Commissioner and consults with them on issues relating to processing, including informing and obtaining an opinion under Article 55 of the Law.
